Roaring into Fantasy: Let’s Explore the World of Dragons!

Let’s delve deeper into the realm of dragons, especially since it is the beginning of the year of the dragon – a time of auspicious energy and mythical marvels!

Dragons have been a fascination of mine since I was knee-high to a hobbit. From bedtime stories of brave knights battling fiery beasts to devouring every dragon-themed book I could get my hands on, these majestic creatures have always held a special place in my heart. It’s no wonder that as I grew older, I found myself weaving their enchanting presence into the tapestry of my own fantasy stories.

In my world, dragons aren’t just fearsome adversaries or symbols of untold riches; they are custodians, protectors of treasures both tangible and intangible. Inspired by the dragons of myth and legend, I created the concept of custodian dragons – wise and noble creatures dedicated to safeguarding and empowering those they choose to bond with.

To be chosen by a custodian dragon means to be embraced by their warmth, to feel their strength coursing through your veins, and to be guided towards fulfilling your destiny. It’s a bond that goes beyond mere friendship; it’s a sacred connection that ignites the flames of your inner fire and propels you towards greatness.

So far, I’ve introduced three remarkable dragons, each with their own unique tale to tell. Two of these majestic beings are portrayed in “The Lake of Miracles,” while the third awaits his debut in my upcoming novel, “The New-Blood Fairy.” Let me give you a glimpse into their world.

Guleth the Dragon King (from “The Lake of Miracles”):

Meet the most ancient and formidable of them all. Guleth possesses the extraordinary ability to receive visions and premonitions, making him a powerful seer. As a warrior, he stands unmatched, wielding both intellect and strength, yet beneath his awe-inspiring exterior beats a heart of noble intent.

Lothar, the Molthar Protector and Elise’s Companion (also from “The Lake of Miracles”):

Descendant of Guleth and the last dragon of the realm of Lubathar, Lothar embodies regal elegance with his shimmering gold scales. His fiery gaze, akin to molten lava, pierces through falsehoods, revealing the truth hidden within. Quick-witted and noble, Lothar commands respect as a guardian of his realm.

Ragmuth, the Young Dragon (from “The New-Blood Fairy”):

Born of earth’s first breath, Ragmuth emerges as a beacon of frosty brilliance, adorned in golden scales that shimmer like sunlight on snow. His eyes, aflame with inner fire, hold the power of telepathy, enabling him to communicate through thoughts alone. As the protector of Ella (my protagonist) and the keeper of custodial secrets, Ragmuth stands as a guardian against darkness.

As we celebrate the beginning of the year of the dragon, let’s honor these magnificent creatures that have captivated our imaginations for centuries. And who knows, maybe you’ll find yourself chosen by a custodian dragon of your own, ready to embark on a journey of epic proportions.

Before I sign off, did you know I’ve also compiled a list of my favorite pop culture dragons? Check it out on my TikTok!  (Yep, I’m not afraid to embrace the TikTok life… well, maybe just a tiny bit!)

Until next time, may the dragons of legend continue to inspire and enchant us all!
