When somebody dies in such a tragic and unexpected way, the reactions can be overwhelming. And is even more when the person who dies is not only famous but also, someone who left a mark on thousands of people. For those who don’t know who she was, just know that she was the true example of what the American Dream is. Personally I was not a fan of her music, but I got to admit that in her genre she was a diva. Not everybody manages to sell 15 million copies worldwide. It is sad and tragic that such things happen. But they do, and more often than you think. Death is something that all of us have to deal somehow at some point, and is a shame that we can’t deal with this subject in a more natural way. It is in the majority of cases uncomfortable and difficult.
Rivera’s life was always surrounded by scandals and controversy, as well as success. Yesterday we saw how Twitter was filled with messages all day long. As soon as the bad news was confirmed, media outlets, both Hispanic and American, were inspired to remember this artist. For sure we will see a lot of tributes to Jenni Rivera in the near future, just as it happened with artists such a Selena. AKA la Diva de la Banda, Jenni left a great legacy not only with her music but also, through messages of independence and strength that she promoted among her female audience.
What we learn from all of this is that there are always lessons for us who remain in this world. We don’t need to be famous to live among dramas or conflicts that in the majority of cases can be resolved easily. We can’t expect to sit in our couches and wait for gold coming from heaven, or freeze and suffer upon every difficult situation we face, because the only thing that is true is that life is short and you never know. You have to fight, work hard, and be happy.
So if there is some unfinished business in your life, don’t wait for Christmas to resolve it. Don´t wait for New Year to make a list of resolutions. Time really doesn´t exist because the past is already far away, and the future holds just the unknown. We just have the “now”, this is the only moment that we can use to search that happiness we work so hard for.
We have to pray for those who have lost a love one and continue on living. At least, let´s try to do it in harmony and in peace with ourselves and with others.
