If you are a mom you know exactly what I’m talking about. You know the songs, you can recreate every scene, and don’t lie to me but you and I know that in the shower you also sing “Let it go” with the shampoo bottle in your hand.
Our life is divided in two, before and after Frozen, a film that ever since its release last November has left our children, especially our daughters, in an incomprehensible frenzy, to the point that the film’s merchandize is completely sold out, and us parents, are quarreling and praying for a dress or toy related to the movie.
I will not deny it. I love the story. Among the recent Disney films, Frozen is definitely the best. I would even dare to say that is above The Lion King, or at least is quite close. But like you, I think Frozen is driving me crazy and also making me poor.
To get the Elsa dress for my daughter, I had to stand in line at the store before it opened. People were already waiting and soon many more appeared. The process is as follows: Doors open at 10 a.m. You have until 11 a.m. to enter a drawing. If you are lucky and win, this gives you the opportunity to buy the coveted dress that is worth $52 but in Amazon is selling for $250. Only about 4 people get it for every dress size. That day I was fortunate, and against the odds, I got it. However, when I saw that some Frozen merchandise was available, I couldn’t resist the temptation and ended up buying an Olaf, some silverware, and almost got a pajama when the divine providence stopped me. Easily you can spend the money that you don’t have in a matter of seconds, only because you know all of this stuff is difficult to find. Of course, seeing the face of my daughter when she saw the dress, which by the way is absolutely beautiful, nothing mattered to me. That smile is worth everything. But it has not been a week since this incident, when I received an email announcing the presale of Frozen, Disney on Ice. As fast as I could I forwarded the info to my fellow mom friends, and in total we ended up buying 14 tickets for the show for $40 each! We were tempted to buy tickets for $70. Again the divine providence saved us.
I cannot even imagine how that day will be. Or what parents are willing to do to get an extra ticket, or to get a dress for their daughters before the show. Though apparently, Disney promised that by July or August they will have all the Frozen merchandise available again. We’ll see…What is certain is that this film will keep us literally Frozen for a very long time, or at least until Disney comes up again with a film with such an impact. The Lion King came out in 94 … do the math .
what do you think of this? Have you had an experience with Frozen merchandise? How often do you hear “Let it go” in a day? What are you willing to do for an Elsa dress for your daughter?
