I know how you feel. You feel angry. You feel frustrated, because your dreams and hopes were placed in him: the single one player in your team that you know for sure will never fail. The star. The one that everyone else fears. The one that inside the field is kryptonite for the rival. We were there… In January when our star Radamel Falcao was injured. And as you, many of us searched online and tried to insult the player who injured him. Did that change anything? No. Falcao still didn’t play the World Cup and Colombians realized that hate was not the answer. We got united and see how far we came. Things happen in football… And it could have been worse considering the kind of referee in charge of the game last Friday. A game that was not fair for any of us, the fans: Not fair to you because you ended up without your superman, and to us because we got out of the World Cup after 16 years dreaming about this. There were more than 60 fouls in a game that was supposed to be the most exciting and beautiful of the entire cup. At the end is a game, and in every game there has to be a winner. We lost… And see? We are fine. Even though we lost, and we feel we didn’t deserve to get out the way we did, we came back with our heads high. Our team returned home and we received them as heroes. We recovered. So why can’t you? You are still there, so your situation is even better! You are trying to demonstrate the world you deserve the cup. Then, support your team and your injured player! Show the world you deserve it!! If you think you are the best of the world, so be it!!! Stop hate! You are the hosts!!! Aren’t you supposed to be the ones promoting world unity and peace? Aren’t you supposed to fight racism and inequality? Are you even capable of winning this? With all the demonstrations of hate you are clearly showing you are not ready and not worthy of it. Clearly you are blinded and missing the opportunity of your life. You have just a few hours to change your mind because tomorrow at this time you might be too late. So stop hating and let the Fair Play win.
Sincerely yours,
A fan just like you.
