It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Yes. At least it is for me. I know what you are thinking, “she is completely lost”. But please don’t judge me. I love the awards season even though for many these ceremonies are a farce. I don’t miss a red carpet coverage. My husband knows that when the Golden Globes and the Oscars are on, we cannot schedule trips or social gatherings for the same time, and don’t even think about getting the remote control of the only TV that by mutual decision, we decided to have in the house.
I’m excited doing my predictions already and calculating the time I have until February 24th to watch the movies that I need to understand the nominations. Starting with the Golden Globes, I love watching the glamour of the red carpet and now with Twitter, criticism has become very entertaining. This year there are several things I’m waiting for:
That finally Sofia Vergara gets the Golden Globe. She deserves it. I already can see in my status Viva Colombia! Viva Sofia! Although this represents that to the poor girl will have to endure a traditional welcome parade on top a fire truck along the streets of Bogota or what is worse in a Chiva (a small colorful bus) along the streets of Barranquilla. Yes. We might do that.
Great comedy with the hosts. It is clear that in terms of awards comedy is usually ignored, so producers choose to put recognized comedians to host the awards. The duo Tina Fey and Amy Poehler promises to be fresh and extremely fun. Although I think the greatest expectation is Seth MacFarlane at the Oscars. I demand a musical skit with Stewie and Brian!
One thing I am sure of is that the top awards at the Oscars are completely predictable. The Best Film award will obviously be for Lincoln and Best Director will be Steven Spielberg. But hopefully the Golden Globes will recognize someone else.
I hope nobody throws flour to Ryan Seacrest. Tomatoes would be ideal instead.
That Bryan Cranston wins the Golden for his performance in Breaking Bad. What a great actor and a good series.
I look forward to seeing Adele performing Skyfall.
Do you like the awards? Why yes and why not? What else do you expect on these awards?
